The Asian Facelift

Facelifts among people of Asian descent are becoming increasingly popular, particularly in Asia. Many of the same procedures performed on Caucasian patients are performed on Asian patients, but they are adapted to fit differences in skin texture, aging patterns and bone structure. Asians have an advantage over Caucasians in that as they age, Asian skin tends to stay elastic and relatively thick with few lines and wrinkles. Therefore Asian facelifts tend to address the problem of sagging of the lower face.

Typical aging concerns for Asian patients include nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jowling and loss of jaw definition. Each culture has its own specific values and definition of beauty. When planning and performing surgery, Dr. Rizk is highly sensitive to Asian cultural expectations of beauty at all times. While hard to provide a single description of a beautiful Asian face, there are some facial characteristics that are generally regarded as favorable such a large bright eyes and a smooth jaw outline.

Dr. Rizk has adapted his signature modified deep plane lift to fit the requirements of the Asian face. He finds this approach particularly appropriate as it addresses the underlying causes of sagging. As all his facelfits, Dr. Rizk performs Asian facelifts with a 3D high definition endoscopic system, which promotes smaller incisions, more precise results and faster recovery.

Younger Asian patients may desire a refreshed, younger-looking appearance, but don’t feel they are ready for a facelift. For these patients a brow lift may provide just the right boost to their appearance and self-perception. At around the age 30, what appears to be upper excess eyelid skin can begin to develop. Often the reason for the appearance of this excess skin is actually sagging of the eyebrow and forehead. The ideal procedure to correct this condition is a brow lift, which is generally performed with an incision behind the hairline. Once again, Dr. Rizk used his 3D high definition endoscopic system to perform this procedure, which guarantees a better result as well as faster healing and a smaller scar.
