Facial plastic surgery offers a permanent solution to some of the more prominent signs of aging and can transform the structure of the face and nose. However, some patients come to Dr. Rizk and say that they only want to try to make small, minor changes at the moment. In these cases, Dr. Rizk often suggests a "first stage" treatment with cosmetic dermatology.
In particular, Dr. Sam Rizk often recommends patients with different skin conditions to seek the help of board certified dermatologist Debra Jaliman, M.D. whose office is located on 5th Avenue, a short distance from his office. Dr. Jaliman is an experienced dermatologist who is said to be one of the first skin experts to use BOTOX, more than 20 years ago. She has been invited to train other doctors in facial fillers and has helped thousands of patients retain a youthful appearance. She is also one of the only doctors in New York who knows how to fix excessive use of fillers made by other doctors. Many patients came to consult with her about using Vitrase to undo other physicians' improper work on their lips and other parts of the face. "Vitrase is a well-designed material that corrects errors done with fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Perlane," explains Jaliman.
In addition to fillers, Dr. Jaliman uses cosmetic lasers with patients who express a wish to look younger, decrease wrinkles, reduce facial veins, acne, rosacea, and redness. One of the many lasers she has in her office is the Genesis Laser, best suited for those who wish to fight the signs of aging. Some of its positive side effects include reduction of large pores and improvement of sun-damaged skin texture. Many of the laser treatments take only 15-30 minutes per session and patients can go back to their normal activities immediately after the visit. "It might feel a bit tingling, some patients experience redness for a few hours after treatment - but nothing major," says Dr. Jaliman. She also uses other types of laser treatments for tattoo removal, scar revision, laser hair removal, leg veins and facial blood vessels removal.
Dr. Jaliman can also deal with common medical skin conditions, such as acne, which often occurs in adults. Dr. Jaliman uses LightWaves laser to treat acne in a thirty minutes procedure that helps to reduce the bacteria that causes inflammatory acne. In the first 15 minutes of the session, the blue light acts as a door opener, entering the sebaceous glands and spreading singlet oxygen in order to kill the bacteria. In the last fifteen minutes, the machine will turn to red light which helps to speed up the healing process, lower a chance of skin infection and reduce scarring. The treatment can be used alone or by applied with medications or related acne procedures such as a light peel, microdermabration or a medical facial for better results.
In other patients who do want to transform their face with cosmetic surgery, it will be enhanced by the procedures offered by Dr. Jaliman. While a facelift will dramatically lift and contour the face, there are some issues that it does not address. The skin tone and texture and issues such as sun damage, redness, pore size, brown spots, and uneven skin coloration can best be treated by a cosmetic dermatologist. Dr. Jaliman has treatments ranging from microdermabrasion, mild peels, lasers, botox, sculptra and fillers. She can also advise patients on which products to use to enhance the healing of their facelift and which sunscreens to use. Also, if any patients have skin conditions that require treatment prior to their surgery, for example acne or eczema, she can clear this up as well. So when Dr. Rizk performs your procedure, you know that he will be doing it on your most perfect skin.
