Rhinoplasty Combined With Laser Resurfacing FAQs

What are the benefits of combining a rhinoplasty with laser resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing can correct many of the common signs of aging. Laser therapy is able to tighten skin by stimulating the production of collagen, diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin tone by minimizing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, and reduce the size of skin pores. Laser resurfacing can benefit older and younger patients alike. Patients with thick skin and large pores may benefit from laser therapy to reduce the appearance of pores on their nose after rhinoplasty. Older patients who wish to correct an aging nose through a rhinoplasty procedure can achieve younger-looking skin by undergoing laser resurfacing. These two procedures can help improve the patient’s overall appearance, making this combination quite popular among New York rhinoplasty patients.

How does laser resurfacing work?

During your laser resurfacing treatment, Dr. Rizk will use the revolutionary fractional CO2 laser to create a series of microscopic holes across your skin’s surface. These holes stimulate the body’s natural healing process and stimulate an increase in collagen production within the skin. Collagen, which is responsible for the skin’s elasticity and firmness, naturally decreases with age. As its production increases, the skin becomes firmer and tighter, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles diminishes. As such, an increase in collagen production can reverse some of the effects of aging. New, fresh skin will also grow in response to the treatment. This skin will be free of darker areas of pigmentation, such as sun spots and liver spots. Acne and large skin pores will also be reduced as a result of the treatment.

Will the laser resurfacing be performed at the same time as my rhinoplasty?

Laser skin resurfacing may be performed at the same time as your rhinoplasty procedure or at some point after the surgery. During your initial consultation, our doctor will determine the best time for you to undergo this treatment.

How many laser treatments will be required?

The number of treatments required will be based upon your skin type and the extent of aging being treated. Most patients experience excellent results with just one treatment; however, in some cases, two treatment sessions may be required to achieve the desired results.

How long is the recovery period following laser therapy?

When undergoing laser skin resurfacing with a fractional CO2 laser, the recovery time is about four days. This means that by the time you have recovered from your rhinoplasty, your skin will have finished healing and will appear younger, healthier, and more rejuvenated.

How do I decide if laser resurfacing will help me achieve my goals?

During your initial consultation, the best rhinoplasty surgeon will help you decide if additional procedures or treatments will be of benefit to you. An experienced surgeon will consider your entire face and the appearance of your skin to determine if laser resurfacing is appropriate.

Who should perform my laser resurfacing?

If you are considering laser therapy, be sure to work with a doctor who is trained and experienced in laser skin resurfacing. Dr. Rizk is able to perform laser skin resurfacing on his rhinoplasty patients. He is highly skilled in the use of the fractional CO2 laser and consistently provides excellent results to his patients.
